270 : type memory

Some of you may be thinking that this is yet another typography post... and you're right. But this was just too cool to pass up: a typography memory game. No longer are you matching barn animals or cartoon characters; this set of memory is for the serious type lover. 255 : spinning tops

I've had a bit of a fascination with spinning tops since I saw the short films by Charles and Ray Eames, and I'm sure many many more people now have the same fascination with them after watching the Leo DiCaprio movie, Inception. In my head I always picture the traditional shapes and colors, but seeing the ones in the above photo have shown me just how truly amazing these tiny little things can be.

237 : scrabble

The bf and I used to love to play scrabble. Oddly enough, in all the times we've played he hasn't won once. We picked up a game tonight to keep at my place and once again his losing streak continues. With words like "for" and "fun" it's no wonder he's getting his butt kicked.

204 : holga

Months ago I bought a Holga. For those not familiar, Holga's are about as cheap of a camera as you can buy. With plastic case and lens, the things leak light like you wouldn't believe. But those "defects" are what can make the pictures incredibly beautiful. I had been wanting one for awhile, but put it off. Feeling the pressures of only 8 shots per roll, I've been "saving" it for a "special occasion". I've finally decided to not wait and just start shooting. My goal: have all 3 rolls purchased shot and developed by the end of the month. With only 24 shots, I doubt that will be a problem :)

04 : sea monkeys

For years I have wanted Sea Monkeys. When I was young, I knocked mine over and never got to actually see them hatch. So a few weeks ago I decided to go on a hunt to find some. It was just after Christmas so it was a little more challenging than expected. Low-and-behold, Aaah's had them. We even got a choice: classic red or a snazzy purple.

We're going on 2 weeks now, and currently have 5 tiny little things...let's hope we have better luck with Sea Monkeys, than we do with plants.
